INFORMATION REGARDING DEBORAH’S POLITICAL VIEWS (From a Facebook Note by Solomon):

I am an avid reader & regularly browse through several online publications each week. I have been writing letters and editorials to the newspapers for many years regarding my views on many issues and helped people run for public office.

These are my views regarding several political and social issues:

a) Running as an economic centrist or in the middle on the economic issues. I don’t desire to live in a communistic nation where the government takes everything from everyone and redistributes it as as they see fit, neither do I want to live in a nation where a few of the wealthiest people in the nation control the majority of the nations wealth and the people and families at the bottom that are working hard can barely make ends meet. (Warren Buffett who is a multi-billionaire is an economic centrist.)

b) Running as pro-life that desire to inspire a respect for God given human life.

c) Running to encourage the traditional family with a father & mother, although I realize single parents need encouragement as well.

d) Upholding citizen’s rights to have hunting & sporting guns, as my father always did, or those citizen’s that have had the training and are licensed to carry firearms, however, banning citizens from owning assault weapons (aka machine guns.)

e) English being taught in all schools in the nation and offered to adults as well so that we have a common language that unites us all as Americans.

f) I will quote from an article in Christianity Today regarding views on Immigration Reform “We seek fair and humane treatment for those who are immigrants. Many of the immigrants in America are us. The Government should safeguard national borders, recognize the importance of family reunification and establish an equitable process toward earned legal status for currently undocumented immigrants. The process should be reasonable and might require for example, undocumented immigrants to pay back taxes.”

g) Encouraging churches & non-profit organizations, that might have the ability, to consider starting after school programs and/or summer day camps. Pastors Rich & Robyn Wilkerson at Trinity Church in Miami, FL as well as others, have a successful program.

h) Universities – stop the co-ed dorms & teaching from x rated books.

i) Agree upon a reasonable moral standard & dress code in the schools.

j) Having a balanced view regarding recycling and taking care of the earth as God’s creation. My family and I recycle newspapers, plastic, aluminum etc..

j) Stop all advertising of the tobacco companies. I realize some people are presently addicted to tobacco, however, we can stop them from addicting the next generation. Eventually phase out the tobacco farms and help the farmers develop other crops that can be a financial blessing to them such as corn or soybeans etcetera

k) Uphold the laws regarding under aged drinking of alcohol and Driving Under the Influence of alcohol.

We have to remember that God created sex and it is His idea. It is not a dirty or perverted act. There is much in the culture that has distorted and perverted sex. Sex is meant to be a healthy part of a healthy marriage.

I remember well back in the 70′s, over 30 years ago when I was in High School they passed the different forms of birth control around for all of the students to observe and discuss. I think at this point it would be reasonable to say that “Safe Sex” was a miserable failure.

I believe when sex education is taught in the public schools the young ladies and young men could be in separate classes. I remember when my son was in freshman health class along with other 13 & 14 year old young ladies & they showed a large slide of male genitals on the wall, for the students to view together. I don’t believe this is necessary and serves to further erode any sense of modesty between the sexes. I don’t believe mixing the classes for sex education is necessary.

Pastor Rick and Kay Warren from Saddleback Church, have worked to eradicate AIDS in the world & especially on the continent of Africa. This is an issue that affects every nation in the world. Just before the school season began this past fall I was so impressed with a program regarding AIDS and sexual information that was sponsored by the Catholic Charities, Youth Front, and several church groups. They had a young lady that spoke with the young people about how she acquired AIDS from the first person she had sexual relations with. She held up an entire cup of medicine that she takes every day just to stay alive. She then introduced her husband who was a 27 year old virgin when they married. She told the young people that he was a man of integrity. They were both very interesting in the way they presented the information to the young people & kept their attention. I sincerely believe if they could repeatedly get those types of programs into the public schools, or give parents the option of school vouchers, they could help “Turn the Tide” for the next generation. These types of programs could counteract much of the repeated immorality that has been promoted to young people on the internet, movies and music in the past.

I have known of families that their children dated through high school and got married after they graduated from high school or went a year to college and then married and acquired their degrees or established their careers together. I also know of grandparents or parents that have rented an upstairs or downstairs apartment to their married children or grandchildren. There are also others that maintained the self discipline to wait until after college to marry.

The Kansas City Star recently printed an article entitled the Kansas City School Teachers are Afraid, detailing the fear and discouragement that many educators feel from some students that have become disrespectful and/or violent, and the St. Louis Post Dispatch also recently printed an article regarding violence in St. Louis, MO schools. I believe NOW IS THE TIME TO SEIZE THE DAY AND TURN THE TIDE FOR THE NEXT GENERATION!
